May is Arthritis Awareness MonthMany of you, well actually most of you, do not know that I have Sarcoidosis. Why would you? I talk about food here, not joint pain. I bet you’ve either never heard of Sarcoidosis or you’ve heard it mentioned on House practically every episode before they figure out the real cause of the actor’s demise. I didn’t know what Sarcoidosis was either, until I developed terrible arthritis about 8 years ago. My ankles swelled to the size of grapefruits. My fingers were swollen and hot to the touch. Everything hurt. It was then that I understood what pain, chronic pain, really is. I had a brand new baby at the time. I couldn’t lift him out of the crib. I could barely climb a few steps without crying.

In honor of today’s release of the wonderful movie Julie & Julia on DVD and Blue-ray, the folks at Sony are giving us a copy of the Movie to giveaway to one lucky reader of Jersey Bites. (I so wish it could be me, but no such luck.) So, if you love this movie and Meryl Streep as much as I do (What foodie wouldn’t?) just leave a comment with a contact email address to enter. Two weeks ago, I finally got the chance to make the trip up to Keyport to visit the little place known for it’s big flavors, 
This week’s prize should be called the SuperMom Survival Kit. At least that’s what I’m calling it because I’m a SuperMom. (Just ask me.)
Last weekend, my best buds and I had a “staycation” in Lavalette. No kids, no hubs, no computers which resulted in me wandering around from room to room in the house wondering what the heck to do with myself. But, once I got acclimated with the offline world (as I clutched my blackberry) I was able to relax and have a really great time with some really hilarious women.
