I have a new love in my life; well, actually two new loves. My first introduction to the Two Guys Jersey Tomato Sauces was when their PR company sent me a bottle to sample several months ago. I loved the sauce, but life got in the way and I sort of forgot about writing a review. Not sort of, I did forget. But when I bumped into the owner at the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival (and happily saw them doing so well), I remembered my review. So yesterday, when I saw a bright red stack of the jars at my local Foodtown, I knew it was time to give these boys the credit they deserve. I bought two jars and taste tested to my hungry heart’s content. »» Product Pick: Two Guys Jersey Tomato Sauce
One of the joys of cooking is getting close to your food. Rather than taking a plastic-sheathed piece of bread from a bag, you knead the dough by hand, patiently wait for it to rise and then bake to golden brown. Instead of ordering a pizza, you create your own masterpiece with hand-tossed grated cheese, olives, pineapple, or whatever else strikes your Friday night fancy. And, then there are the talented and driven few like Kim Osterhoudt, who take their love of cooking and talent in the kitchen a step further and start a business.
There’s a sense of lighthearted trippiness to Crazy Steve’s Pickles & Salsa website that, at first glance, can leave one wondering what this business is all about. However, upon further inspection, not to mention a friendly chat with Crazy Steve himself, I learned that these snacks are more than meets the eye. I caught up with Steve Zielinski, founder of Crazy Steve’s Pickles & Salsa, and got the scoop on this Robbinsville business with a purpose.
I’m excited to introduce a new contributor to Jersey Bites. Our guest biter today is Kyle a food blogger and professional videographer who has a new blog called Big Bites Little Bites where he plans to get help from his 4 year old daughter and “little” side kick Abigail. I hope this is the first of many reviews and recipes from Big Bites Little Bites. Be sure to pay his blog a visit for some yummy recipes.
When I find a new product that I am happy about, you know I like to share it with my favorite people (that’s you of course.) So, while speeding through Foodtown the other day, I spotted this new pizza bread that looked interesting. It is made by International Fabulous Flats™ and Foodtown had it in both the white and multigrain varieties. I chose the multigrain as you can see and hurried home to experiment with toppings. (Yes, and take a picture of it too. Don’t you take pictures of your groceries?)
This post is part testimonial to the power of Twitter and part testimonial to really tasty tea. About a month or so ago, I happened to meet MaryAnn Rollano on Twitter. I was surprised and delighted to find a local girl with what looked like a great new product. I contacted MaryAnn through Twitter. We met for lunch and I sampled her delicious Iced Tea. And, now, I am here to sing the praises of MaryAnna’s Summer Sweet Tea. Not a bad return for Mary Ann’s very brief time spent on the social networking scene.
