On January 17, 2012, Assembly Bill 4436 was signed into law by Gov. Chris Christie. The law allows New Jersey wineries to ship wine to customers and also enables New Jersey residents to buy wine directly from sellers in other states.

Everybody has probably seen the infamous map of New Jersey that made its way around the internet this past month. Whether or not the map is accurate, the divisions in our Garden State are undeniably fascinating. We have our coastal shore towns, full metros like Newark and Atlantic City, farmland to the west, the Historic sites of Princeton and Morristown, and then there’s Sussex County. I think that map does not characterize our northernmost county accurately. With its open fields, horse shows, and hunting enthusiasts, its become apparent to me that Sussex is the land of the North Jersey Cowboy. Sussex County is our Texas.

Yesterday was the perfect day to be among over 100 beer and beef loving friends at Bar A in Lake Como for the Great Jersey Shore Burger Contest. I, along with Peter Genovese from The Star Ledger and Munch Mobile fame, Randy Davis from Thunder 106 Rockin’ Country and Brian Durand of Shore Point Distributing shared the daunting task of picking a winner from eleven restaurants who truly brought their best. Every burger had something outstanding to offer. There wasn’t a bad bite in the bunch.

The Fantastic Fall Hot Pepper Harvest On Friday Oct 21, the EARTH Center will offer a garden/cooking workshop entitled, The Fantastic Fall Hot Pepper Harvest from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave. South Brunswick. The workshop aims to introduce attendees to the love of hot peppers and will feature some great recipes.. growing considerations and of course, ways to cool the burn…Registration is required by Wednesday Oct. 19. Since joining The Shannon Rose Irish Pub in January of 2011, Head Chef John Adamson has begun to make his mark on this well-known and lively eatery. Having experience running 3 other Irish restaurants throughout Monmouth County, he brought with him a passion for fresh ingredients, innovative dishes, and a “laid back and relaxed” style of cooking. He impressively studied and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY after realizing that cooking was the career for him and being in the kitchen is where he was meant to be.

New York Jets offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson and representatives of the Department of Agriculture today congratulated Nicolaus Copernicus P.S. #25 in Jersey City for its achievements in nutrition and physical fitness education. The school was one of five winners of the 2010-2011 Eat Right, Move More program, a partnership between the Jets, the Department of Agriculture and the American Dairy Association & Dairy Council’s Fuel Up to Play 60 campaign.
