Leftover Halloween Candy = Shortbread Candy Bars

In the days following Halloween, it’s not unusual to work through the candy overflow by having a candy bar with every meal.  But after the initial euphoria and sugar high fade you’re still left with piles of leftover candy.  One way to ensure the candy isn’t still lying around by next Halloween is to make a batch of these shortbread bars.  The buttery shortbread crust is first baked, then topped with chocolate chips and the candy of your choice.  We tried it out with dark chocolate peanut butter cups, but any chocolate candy would work.  There’s nothing like taking candy and making it into an even more decadent treat. »» Leftover Halloween Candy = Shortbread Candy Bars

Mini Mummy Pizzas are Eerily Delicious

These mini pizzas are the perfect post trick-or-treat meal. To keep those little hands from dipping into the candy bag too often, enlist the help of the children in the kitchen. They will love making them as much as they will love eating them! »» Mini Mummy Pizzas are Eerily Delicious

A Tricky Treat: Crackle Snap Pop Roll

How about a Trick and a Treat this Halloween. While the gorgeous sushi selection you see above might look like it came from your favorite restaurant, it actually comes from award winning Chefs Snap, Crackle and Pop. Kids love the surprise when you calm their fears of eating raw fish for dinner with a sweet, chewy treat made with Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and Fruit Roll Ups. No, we’re not suggesting you serve these for dinnner, but they are really fun to serve your little Goblins after dinner or at a Halloween party.

Some Treats for your Eyes and Appetite

Happy Halloween eyeball-halloween-foodEveryone.  In my little town here at the Jersey Shore, Halloween is a very big deal.  We’ve got one street in particular that becomes a mini-Mardi Gras every year on this day.  The folks who own homes on that street go through unbelievable amounts of candy and there is no need to ring doorbells since most adults are on their porches entertaining guests.

Halloween Treats even I can make, sort of

Halloween treatsAlright, I’m the first to admit it. I am a spaz when it comes to crafty holiday goodies. Just look at this sad line up. Zombie Mr. Bill’s ?? I guess baying at the moon and my attempt at a cat or a mouse?? not really sure. I’m going to say cat, because mice aren’t exactly Halloweenie. Despite the obvious design flaws, the end result according to my boys was pretty darn tasty. These little beauties are being submitted to a competition held by General Mills. (don’t laugh) I really hope they have a beginners category.
