Recipe: Easy Fluke on the Grill

One of the wonderful perks of living at the Jersey Shore is the abundance of fresh fish available right off the boats.  I still find it amazing though that so many of us “locals”  have no idea what is fresh caught and what comes to us from other areas of the US or further. The next time you go to buy fish, be sure to ask them what is fresh AND locally caught. For a list of the local fish and their seasons, take a look at ShoreCatch.com.

Simply Sushi: Dai Kichi in Montclair

Sushi is one of those things people tend to love or hate (or refuse to try…I’m working on them). Put me in the love corner: I heart the stuff. While I’m not the world’s most adventurous sushi eater, I do dive deeper than the California roll—no disrespect to Cali roll devotees of the world—and over time I’ve discovered the joys of several accompanying menu items such as age tofu and seaweed salad.

Whole Wheat Pasta with Salmon in Creamy Pumpkin Sauce

Day two of my meal plan and I’ve already veered off of the intended path (a bit). But first, I must digress. Do you know how hard it is to get a decent picture of a bowl full of this stuff? I must have taken 20 pictures and this is the best I could get. We’re getting a new super duper camera this week though, so look for some really great pics once I figure out how to use the dang thing.

Panko-Encrusted Flounder with Tomato and Spinach

Alright, get used to it. Everything I cook from now until November is going to have a tomato on it, in it, or under it. Sorry folks.

Wasabi-Crusted Cod

If you love wasabi like I do, you will love this recipe. Love the crunch of the panko bread crumbs. Even leftovers are crunchy. The original recipe called for Salmon, but I think it needs a milder fish that won’t compete with the wasabi.

Fabulous Swordfish Marinade

I’m posting this to the blog so I never have to worry about forgetting or losing it again. It is as described, fabulous. This recipe comes from CDKitchen.com. I highly recommend the site.
