What’s in a name? The newest addition to Montclair’s buzzing food community is called Chef’s Lab, but it sure doesn’t feel like a lab. In fact, the inviting space feels more like downtown-loft-meets-Jamie-Oliver’s-Food-Revolution-kitchen.

This weekend is going to be a great one for staying inside and cooking. As weather.com is so gently putting it this morning, we’re supposed to get “walloped” by a pretty big snow storm. So, the grocery stores are going to be packed, but if you want that perfect pot of chili ready for game day, I’m sure I’ll see you there. Here are my picks and some guest picks for some super Superbowl menu choices. I don’t list wings but you can bet we’ll have them at my house. The recipe I use is nothing more than coating the wings lightly with seasoned flour, deep frying them and tossing with the hot sauce recipe right off the bottle of Frank’s Hot Sauce.

Happy Halloween
Everyone. In my little town here at the Jersey Shore, Halloween is a very big deal. We’ve got one street in particular that becomes a mini-Mardi Gras every year on this day. The folks who own homes on that street go through unbelievable amounts of candy and there is no need to ring doorbells since most adults are on their porches entertaining guests.

When I find a new product that I am happy about, you know I like to share it with my favorite people (that’s you of course.) So, while speeding through Foodtown the other day, I spotted this new pizza bread that looked interesting.
It is made by International Fabulous Flats™ and Foodtown had it in both the white and multigrain varieties. I chose the multigrain as you can see and hurried home to experiment with toppings. (Yes, and take a picture of it too. Don’t you take pictures of your groceries?)

Yesterday, I talked about making an Easter Pie for the first time. As you can see, the end result was picture perfect. Unfortunately, it was a very sweet version of this traditional Italian dish and I was not a happy bunny.

One of the worst things about life after divorce is Holidays. The every other year arrangement really makes it hard to develop traditions, and I happen to enjoy traditions especially where food is involved. This Easter my kids are with Dad for Easter Dinner, so Easter Sunday will become Easter Saturday in my house. I really hope the Easter Bunny doesn’t get thrown off by our playing with the days like this. (If you click on this Easter Bunny you’ll be taken to a coloring page you can print out for your favorite little Peep.)
