Bites from the Editor: January

Well, I guess my “I will not procrastinate”resolution is already out the window given the fact that I’m posting my Bites from the Editor on January 2nd. But, never fear, the “Don’t be so hard on yourself” resolution is doing its best to counter, so I’m hanging tough.

Bites From the Editor: December

Busy, busy, busy. For many us, these three words describe December. The party invitations have started to arrive (thank you friends) and the shopping list is growing (thank you kids) and I am just trying to figure out how the hell I am going to get it all done and still enjoy “The Holidays?”

Bites from the Editor: November

It’s hard to believe after the weekend we just had here in New Jersey that winter doesn’t officially start until December 22nd. We sure have been taking it on the chin from Mother Nature lately. I’m hoping all of our North Jersey friends are back in the light again soon. I was up in Morristown on Saturday for the Own it Ventures conference, which was a fabulous experience but unfortunately the weather caused many of us, including me, to hit the road early. (When the hotel lights start to flicker, it’s time to go in my book.)

Bites from the Editor: September

First, I want to apologize for the lack of communication over the past few days. (Note to self, do not buy an Ipad the day before flying to Chicago to attend a conference and expect to have it function like your laptop when you have no clue how to use the dang thing.  Oh, and if you really want to make things challenging, forget your charge cable at home.)  But, enough about me and my last-minute-Lucy tendencies. A better story is why I was in Chicago in the first place.  The Windy City was the location of the 2nd annual Block by Block Community News Summit put on by Reynolds Journalism Institute. I was truly honored to not only attend but to be given a travel and accommodations scholarship to help pay my way thanks to The Patterson Foundation.

Bites from the Editor

Well, much like my garden right now, Jersey Bites seems to be bursting at the seems. We are welcoming seven new writers to our family of contributors this month. Please visit the Team page to learn more about all of our contributors.  In addition to our writers, we also have a new Advertising Sales Executive, Tracey Hall, joining us. If you are interested in advertising your business here, Tracey can walk you through all the options. We are also finally getting started on building our Jersey Bites Restaurant Directory. I am so excited to be fitting this missing piece into our puzzle. If you have any input into what you would like to see in a restaurant directory, drop us a line.

Bites from the Editor: June

Summer is finally here and what a banner Memorial Day weekend we had. Tis the season for barbecue cook-offs, local festivals and copious amounts of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. Yours truly spent Sunday at Monmouth Park Racetrack tasting Hot Dogs and Hamburgers as an official judge of the Munchmobile’s Hot Dog Show Down. Pictured here is the Judges’ pick for Top Dog from Mamma Marci’s Gourmet Mobile Kitchens in Hoboken. The People’s Choice award went to The WindMill’s classic dog with sauerkraut.

Bites from the Editor

March is finally here. That roller coaster ride of a month that teases us with tempting spring temperatures and then sends our patience plunging with frigid reminders that we’re not out of the woods yet.  Hey, at least we have a couple of parades to look forward to. I for one was just happy to see Day Light Savings on my Calendar when I flipped the page today and found hope in the fact that what should have been a lion like day, was fairly mild and sunny.
