Oh what to do with all those ruby beauties being plucked from the earth right here in our own backyard. It wasn’t that long ago that I hated beets. I’m not sure when or how I crossed over to being a fan. Maybe it was the addicting Golden Beet salad with Goat Cheese served at the Shipwreck in Brielle (I guess I was the only one addicted to it because they took it off the menu and I will never forgive them.)
When I find a new product that I am happy about, you know I like to share it with my favorite people (that’s you of course.) So, while speeding through Foodtown the other day, I spotted this new pizza bread that looked interesting. It is made by International Fabulous Flats™ and Foodtown had it in both the white and multigrain varieties. I chose the multigrain as you can see and hurried home to experiment with toppings. (Yes, and take a picture of it too. Don’t you take pictures of your groceries?)
This is a delicious and different appetizer for your next barbecue. Think grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches for grown ups. The Oregano also makes it a mini rustic pizza. We made this Friday night for some company and everyone ooohed and ahhhed so much I made it for a different batch of company the next night and I’m really contemplating walking to the Famers’ market today for some more tomatoes because these things are so stinkin’ good.
This recipe comes from The South Beach Diet cookbook believe it or not and is one of my favorite marinades for Flank Steak.I know there are a thousand recipes for Flank Steak out there, but this one is so foolproof, I rarely deviate. It’s also super easy. »» Grilled Flank Steak with Simple but Tasty Marinade
I had to get this recipe up the very next day because it is absolutely delicious. If you’re a lamb lover, this is a great way to get your lamb fix without breaking the bank. The rolls are a new find that I was so excited to discover. I try to avoid bread as much as possible, but every once in a while I like a good burger, roll and all. Now, I can have my roll and eat it too. They’re called Arnold Select Sandwich Thins. I bought the mulit-grain variety. I also saw whole wheat. 100 calories each.
Peter and I decided to take the trip up to Keyport a couple weeks ago to visit the restaurant where our fellow Jersey Biter, Chef Michael d’Ennery, is the Executive Chef. We knew that the restaurant was located in a renovated church but we had no idea the size of the church. When we spotted Trinity we thought for sure that it was a functional church not a restaurant. Only when we got right in front did we see the sign for the restaurant. Holy cow! (no pun intended) the place is huge. What a fabulous venue for a large company party or wedding. They are also hosting themed dance nights which we are really looking forward to.
