This week we have another treat for all you bakers out there. Singing Dog Vanilla is giving away two 5 oz. bottles of their Organic Vanilla Extract to two lucky winners here on Jersey Bites. (One bottle each, I’m sure you got that, right?)
Singing Dog Vanilla™ vanilla beans are organically grown in the lush climate of Papua New Guinea without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
Their beans are sun dried to perfection and carefully packed for use in finer restaurants, bakeries, and homes across the globe. A portion of all sales are shared with their partner farmers in order to advance sustainable growing practices and a better family life for all.
It’s very appropriate that Singing Dog Vanilla is our sponsor this week. We just adopted a new Field Spaniel puppy whose pedigree name is “Sound
of Music.” (I’ve updated this post with a picture as per some requests. Isn’t he a handsome bugger.) He was given this name because he makes strange sounds that sound like he’s singing. I’ve heard them and they sound more like the cry of a Sasquatch but who am I to judge the singing skills of a dog? Who am I to know what a Sasquatch sounds like for that matter? I can just testify that singing dogs do exist.
To enter to win a bottle of Singing Dog Vanilla, just leave a comment and share a favorite desert using vanilla extract. (Don’t worry if you can’t think of anything, I’m not going to penalize you, just leave a comment.) Be sure to leave your contact email in your entry if your profile doesn’t include one or I will have to pick another number.
This week you have three ways to earn an extra entry. Subscribe to or Follow this blog for an extra entry. You can also gain extra entries by Tweeting or Blogging about this Giveaway. You must come back and leave a second comment telling me so to be counted for a second, third and/or fourth entry.
Deadline for entries is Tuesday, March 17th at 11:59pm. Winners will be chosen with the help of Random.org.

This MAY not exactly BE a dessert, but, here goes nothin.
Latte with a shot or so of Vanilla and a vanilla-touched whipped cream on top.
Now that is gooood!

Honestly, I love pure vanilla extract in just about any sweet item, especially cookies. If pressed, I have to go with my mom’s butter cookie cut-outs recipe. Its rather simple, so the ingredients need to be of high quality. And Singing Dog sounds just perfect on that count.
Congrats on adding your own singing dog to the family! I, for one, hope there will be pictures at some point.
I would use this to make Vanilla ice cream in my Ice Cream MAKER! YUM YUM YUM!!! Cold and Frosty..

I’ll say my favorite dessert ever, I make it every month ….Red Velvet Cake.
I subscribe via Google Reader.
A recipe I make at Christmas is Butterball Cookies (also called Russian Teacakes). The vanilla quality is very important for these, as you can really taste it. I also like good vanilla in french toast. I think it makes it taste so much better.

I love making tres leches for those who have never had this cake.

Besides the three milks, vanilla is an essential component. I do not add the meringue frosting though. I think it is fantastic without it.
I love my mini cheesecake cups.
I always add vanilla to my morning oatmeal. Yum!

Organic vanilla, sounds tasty. I am not a fan of milk, but appreciate the importance of it. I add a teaspoon of vanilla to my milk to turn it into a shake. Sometimes I will add fruit and blend it with vanilla.

No specific recipe but I love to add vanilla to most anything. My winter favorite is warm milk, vanilla and a hint of agave nectar. Mmmmm
I do a variation on Bananas Foster using vanilla liqueur and pure vanilla extract. Besides I love the name! Your new puppy is very cute by the way.
My favorite thing to make that uses vanilla is cupcakes!!!!
When I make pancakes, I use vanilla to give it a home cooked flavor.
My fav dessert made with vanilla is probably what I made for Christmas, which was Apple-Caramel Cheesecake with Caramel Sauce. Yum!

My favorite desert is fresh, warm from the fields Jersey peaches, cut up into slices, lightly sugared and topped with just-made whipped cream made with vanilla. Gosh, I miss the great produce I used to get when I lived in NJ! asthenight at gmail dot com

I have this special weakness for Flan. If we are straying outside of typical deserts, have to admit my first thought was cherry-vanilla cokes.
